When you have a coupon such as -$1.5/2 Kelloggs cereal, can you also use other coupons with it. For example if I bought 2 boxes of Kelloggs Corn Pops could I use the -$1.5/2 Kelloggs cereal coupon and -(2).40/1 box of Kelloggs cereal for a total of 3 coupons for 2 boxes?

Tina, you can only use one manufacturer’s coupon per item. Since the coupon is $1.5 off 2, it is considered to be applying to (2) boxes.

I tried to buy 4 cereals and use 2 of the 1.50 off coupons and was told that since they are the exact same coupon I could not use and I had to go back into ‘another’ line and purchase my other 2 cereals! So no catalina and I am disappointed!!! Why did it work for you??? I was told this is their policy.

No Wendi, that’s not their policy! You can use a coupon per item, not per transaction (which many stores still miss-interpret). Nowhere in their policy which says you cannot use the same coupon – they each have different bar-code. This deal and similar catalina deals has been done many many times across the country – also see their policy here http://www.safeway.com/IFL/Grocery/Coupons-Policy

Sorry that it happen to you. You’re not doing anything wrong – the deals will come back later (or try another store!) In cases like this I always recommend calling Safeway corporate and let them know you have problems using coupons at that particular store 1-877-723-3929. I did that for a Target store and had the store manager apologized to me personally.

Ya I called their customer service last time since it was pulling teeth getting them to use the $3/2 glade and the gentleman I talked to told me they are not even supposed to take a coupon over $1…..He really did not know what I was talking about…ughh how frustrating!!!!! I am VERY disappointed!

:( that’s no good. I’d give that Safeway a rest for now and find another one to go to, Wendi. Things might change for the better later. The last time I was at another Safeway in town (which I don’t go to anymore) a “head clerk” told me I can’t use ANY printed coupon, can you believe it? I just don’t go to that Safeway anymore!

I found this “press contact” for Safeway: I might give this guy a call. If you search online you’d find that people are complaining about Safeway’s way of handling coupons quite a bit – that’s public affairs right?

Well, I will give this a try. I was just going to let it go but maybe I’ll try to heard again. The bummer thing is that this Safeway is walking distance from my house and the next one is miles… Oh well thank you for the info I so appreciate it!!!!!!!! :)

I hope your Safeway will come around soon – anyway we need to stand up for ourselves! You’re welcome :)
