Here are some tips on how to save with coupons on the things that you will use.
1. Gather a stash of coupons. The easiest place to start is to get you local Sunday paper, which contains coupon inserts. Even if you’re not a subscriber, it’s often worth the couple dollars each week, just to get the coupon inserts. Also, talk to your neighbors, and friends who don’t use their coupons, so that you will have multiple coupons on items you will definite use when they’re on sale. Check out the Coupon Sources page for more ideas on where to get coupons.
2. One word you need to know – stockpiling. No, you don’t really need 12 tubes of toothpaste. However, it makes sense to stockpile non-perishable items when they’re on sale. In many cases, you can actually get items such as toothpastes, and shampoos for free, by combining in-store discounts, coupons and rebates programs in many drugstores, such as Rite Aid or CVS.
3. Don’t get carried away clipping coupons before the store sale circular came out. Only clip coupons on products that you know for sure you’ll be buying. And than, file away the coupon inserts by date, and you could do coupon match-up on sales when the store circulars come out.
